Everything in the universe is in a state of vibration. We are swimming in fields of energies, vibrating at various frequencies, and are constantly interacting with an amazing range of other energy fields – from the mundane to the cosmic. All the various parts of our body are in a state of vibration, organs, tissues, bones, nerves, …
According to scientific theory, sound is transmitted by waves, and usually carried by the medium of air. When something moves it causes a displacement of air and this displacement continues to move outward from the sender center in all directions, attenuating as it moves away from the center. Like when throwing a pebble in water. The pebble causes movement in the water, forming nine waves that go out.
Our ear captures waves that are interpreted as sound by our nerves and brain. We can consciously perceive waves we receive in this way when they oscillate at certain rates of speed, or to say it another way, vibrate in a certain frequency range.
In the case of human hearing this range is between 16 cycles per second and 16,000 cycles per second (a piano emits between 24 and 4000 cycles per second). The lower the frequency of vibration of the sound, the lower the sound we hear. Higher frequencies sound sharper to us.
For a sound to manifest itself to us and have a vibrant focus, we need a means by which transmission and receiving can be done. Vibration is energy. According to theory, we transmit and receive energy through what we refer to as 3D space. The energy causes experiences.
In the first part of a trance, one often sees geometric forms (points, zigzag patterns, grids, parallel lines, spirals and flowing lines). That could be named “going from alpha to theta”. Trying to grok the images they can easily become an illusion of objects of spiritual or emotional significance.
Next is likely a vortex with bright light experience. When emerging from vortex, worlds can be overlaid with hilarious effects. Like having to touch things to check what is real and what is not. Journeying. “Shamanic states” like “journeying” or “controlled dreaming”, is a state that could fit the “and some alert states” mentioned in the below table.
Binaural tones, specifically alpha, theta and delta waves, can be used to enhance relaxation while staying awake, dreams, deep meditation, and deep dreamless sleep. Binaural beats can influence functions of the brain besides those related to hearing. This phenomenon is called frequency following response. The concept is that if one receives a stimulus with a frequency in the range of brain waves, the predominant brain wave frequency is said to be likely to move towards the frequency of the stimulus — a choreography called entrainment.
Make your self comfortable, relax, close your eyes and try for yourself.

Conscious, alert, active, present. Beta Waves are further categorised in High Beta Waves (19-40 Hz) Beta Waves (15-18 Hz) and Low Beta Waves (12.5-15 Hz). These waves reside within E.L.F. (Extremly Low Frequencies) range and are electromagnetic in nature.
Note: Ultrasonic trances hardly exist in non-invasive forms.

Aware, relaxed, calm, day dreaming, highly suggestible. Apparently originate from the occipital lobe during periods of relaxation, with eyes closed but still awake. They are thought to represent the activity of the visual cortex in an idle state.
Significance: Audibly induced trances can help avoid stress
Length: 20:00 minutes (18.31 MB);Format: Stereo 44kHz 128Kbps (CBR)
|4 – 8 (Hz)||
Unconscious light sleep, deep meditation. Theta rhythms can be observed (manifest) during some sleep states, quiet focus like when meditating, short term memory tasks like exploration and spatial navigation, and some alert states, suggesting that they may reflect the integration of sensory information with motor output.
Length: 15:59 minutes (18.3 MB); Format: Stereo 44kHz 160Kbps (CBR)
|0.5 – 4 (Hz)||
Deep dreamless sleep, no external awareness. Delta waves are present only in stage three sleep, stage four sleep, cases of brain injury and coma.
(*) Alpha System 7
System 7 is a band based around Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy:
We released our first System 7 record in August 1990, and since then have released 9 albums and a string of singles with some classic remixes. We are one of the few techno groups to feature the electric guitar (with the sound often heavily processed), and to have a female synthesizer player.
We have been part of the development of Techno and Ambient music for many years, and our mission is to continue with that process. Many of our tracks are made with guest collaborators – DJs and members of other groups. We have developed a live performance approach that is a bit more extreme than our records, with tougher beats and hypnotic live echo loops. We oppose frontiers and rigid divisions, both within the music scene and in the world at large.
We feel part of a musical movement of dance-based rhythms and psychedelic ambiance that embraces the whole planet, and through our friends and collaborators we seek a network of highly creative people.
